Small South African Small Meat Goat
Special Characteristics: 
Relatively small in size with females weighing about 27 kg; head is fine with flat and short facial profile; both sexes are horned with male horns being heavy at base and fine at tip; ears are short and held horizontally; most males have a longish beard; some females are also bearded; males have short mane extending to the shoulders; back is short and straight with sharply sloping croup; coat colour is very variable; the coat hair is short and fine; some subpopulations might have some trypanotolerance in low challenge areas (Wilson, 1991).
Main Location: 
Limited to Zimbabwe; in the southeast of the country this goat is replaced by the Ndebele type; the climate is semi-arid to subhumid and the production systems are agro-pastoral and agricultural (Wilson, 1991).
