Egyptian Nubian; Nuba; Theban.
Special Characteristics:
Typical characteristics of the breed are the long drooping ears; convex facial profile, protruding lower jaw; long hair coat and general dairy type body conformation. The coat colour is often light brown in plain pattern with some dark spots; some animals can have dark coat with brown spots.
Main Location:
This breed is found in the north-west of the Nile Delta of Upper (southern) Egypt.
The breed is believed to have originated in southern Egypt but it is now hard to find any of these goats in this area. Only a few thousand are found as household goats in the East-Northern Delta and are kept as a hobby rather than for production. This breed is considered to be the progenitor of the Anglo-Nubian goat of the United Kingdom.
